You have the right to request deletion of personal data Setu holds about you. This page explains how to submit that request and what happens after we receive it.

VyaptIX Technologies LLP operates Setu by VyaptIX as a registered Meta Tech Provider. Each business that uses Setu owns and controls its own WhatsApp Business Account; we process Platform Data on that business's behalf and never share it across accounts or sell it to third parties.

Who this page is for

Setu processes personal data in three roles. The deletion path differs by role:

  1. Account holders — businesses that signed up at setu.vyaptix.ai to use the platform.
  2. Team members— operators added to a business account by their organisation's admin.
  3. End users — individuals who exchanged WhatsApp, SMS, or email messages with a business that uses Setu.

1. Account holders & team members

You can request deletion of your Setu account and all data associated with it (profile, team membership, audit logs, messaging tokens) in either of two ways:

  • From inside the app — sign in, go to Settings → Account → Delete account, and confirm. You will receive a confirmation email; deletion is irreversible after 14 days.
  • By email — write to privacy@vyaptix.ai from the email address registered to your account, with subject Data deletion request. Include your tenant name and registered email. We will verify your identity and respond within 7 business days.
  • Using the form below — for users who can no longer sign in (lost device, no active session, etc.).

We complete deletion within 30 days of identity verification. Some records — invoices, tax documents, audit logs where retention is mandated by Indian law — are retained for the minimum legally required period (typically 7 years for tax) in a read-only archive that is not used for any other purpose.

2. End users (people who messaged a business on WhatsApp)

If a business you contacted on WhatsApp uses Setu and you want your data removed, the primary route is to ask the business directly — they are the data controller and we process messages on their instruction. Most businesses can delete your conversation history, contact card, and consent record from inside Setu within minutes.

If the business is unresponsive or you want to escalate, use the form below. Please include the business's WhatsApp number or name so we can locate the right account. We will:

  1. Acknowledge your request within 2 business days.
  2. Notify the business and ask them to action the deletion within 14 days.
  3. If the business does not respond, delete your data ourselves and confirm the outcome to you.

3. WhatsApp Business Platform data specifically

When you send a WhatsApp message to a Setu-powered business, our servers receive it via Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform. We retain that message text, attached media, your phone number, and your opt-in record in encrypted form, isolated to the business's tenant. Deletion removes:

  • All message content (inbound and outbound) on both sides of the conversation.
  • Your contact card (phone number, name, tags, custom fields).
  • Consent and opt-in event records.
  • Any AI knowledge-base chunks derived from your messages.
  • Conversation session memory in the AI assistant.

What we do not delete from the WhatsApp side is message metadata Meta retains independently in their own systems — you will need to address those with Meta directly via whatsapp.com/contact. Setu deletion only covers data on Setu servers.

4. Deletion request form

Submitting this form creates a verified deletion request that is routed to our privacy team. We do not delete data immediately on submission — every request is reviewed and verified first to prevent fraudulent or accidental deletions. You will hear from us via email within 2 business days.

5. Identity verification

To prevent malicious deletion requests, we may ask you to:

  • Reply to our acknowledgement email from the same address you registered with.
  • Confirm the deletion via a one-time code sent to your WhatsApp number.
  • Provide proof of authority (e.g., a copy of an ID document) when requesting deletion of a business account.

6. Confirmation & record

Once deletion is complete, we email you a confirmation listing the categories of data removed and the date of removal. We retain a minimal record of the request itself (date, requester email, scope) for 24 months as proof of compliance under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

7. Questions or appeals

If you believe a deletion was incomplete or wrongly refused, contact our Data Protection Officer at dpo@vyaptix.ai. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Board of India.
